Testimony:
Leaning on the Holy Spirit
We were hosting a block party in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood and something the leader said that stuck with me is: "there is likely to be a language barrier, but the good thing about a language barrier is that you REALLY have to rely on the Holy Spirit to do His work"
So after the preaching and the altar call, I saw these three kids respond to give their lives to Jesus. So when they called for the team to go and pray for those who responded I went to this group of three siblings. They couldn't speak English and I couldn't speak Spanish so I was using Google translate to ask if I can pray for them to receive The Holy Spirit.
When they said yes I began to pray. Because of the language barrier, I had no choice but to keep it simple and rely on Him: "Holy Spirit, fill them". No extra words, no special revelation, just a simple prayer of faith.
After praying this I asked each of them how they felt. One said he felt lighter, one said she felt peace, and the younger sister couldn't even answer me as she began to weep uncontrollably under the power of God. Even I was shocked. In fact these three siblings were so touched by the presence of God that they stayed at the altar even after everyone else had moved on and the leaders had transitioned to the next section - they were still stood there receiving from the Lord!
All I could think of was how many times have I gotten in the way of the Holy Spirit because I wanted to use all my words, knowledge and skills? It really brought to life the truth that the Holy Spirit is the Great Evangelist, and we are just His vessels.
